Elanders wants to create attractive and safe working environments for its employees. To manage the company’s impact, Elanders has established a Code of Conduct and policies for preventing and managing risks in the work environment and in the value chain with regard to human rights.
Because of the Group’s global growth, Elanders continues to create new job opportunities. Today, the Group has almost 7,500 employees distributed across about 20 countries on four continents. The subsidiaries are largely governed by laws and regulations in each country. Elanders has a responsibility to promote a culture characterized by respect for both people and the natural environment throughout the Group.
If you want to get into the details, see Elanders’ latest Annual and Sustainability Report.
Elanders’ work environment policy is included in the Group’s Code of Conduct. It describes guidelines for identifying, managing, and preventing potential health and safety risks. The aim is to promote a good work environment and reduce the risk of work-related injuries and illnesses.
The management of each company must ensure that the Code of Conduct is followed through additional guidelines and policies adapted to the specific operations.
Elanders is committed to respecting human rights in line with the UN’s guiding principles for business and human rights (UNGP) and the UN’s declaration on human rights as well as the ILO’s declaration on fundamental principles and rights at work. This is stated in Elanders’ Code of Conduct. It also includes a strict prohibition against all types of forced labor, human trafficking, and child labor. It is self-evident for Elanders to work for children’s right to education and protection of children from economic exploitation.
Elanders has developed a version of the Code of Conduct that will be communicated to suppliers and business partners. Currently, it is the responsibility of each subsidiary to identify risks and ensure that the Code of Conduct is followed in the value chain. In the same way that Elanders controls its suppliers, Elanders is audited by customers based on compliance with social conditions.
